Professor Dr. Ashfaque Ahmed has completed his MSc in Plant Ecology from the Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and did his MS in Natural Resource Management from Norway and PhD in Coastal Zone Ecology from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has been working on different aspects of Ecology and Natural Resource Mangement including species diversity, genetic diversity, phytoplankton diversity, soil and water quality, C-sequestration and C-reserves of plants and soils, and soil respiration of different forest ecosystems of Bangladesh namely Sundarban mangrove forests and Deciduous Sal forests. He has worked on major river systems f Bangladesh namely Buriganga, Padma, Jamuna, Meghna, Brahmaputra and some coastal rivers, and wetlands. He has extensively worked on Bangladesh Sundarbans. I have supervised 1 PhD students on Coastal Zone Ecology (at Hatia, Noakhali) and more than 15 MS and MPhil students and currently supervising 4 MS and 1 PhD student. Seven of the MS students have worked on Bangladesh Sundarbans. He has published about 30 articles in different renowned journals published from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Nepal. Participated and presented papers including Key note speech in different National and International Conferences (Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand). He has visited about 12 countries.
Ecology, Environment, Natural Resource Management, Restoration Ecology, Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation, Wetland Ecology, Costal Zone Ecology.
