Mahbub A.H.M. Latif, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Institute of Applied Statistics and Data Science, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University of Göttingen, Germany, and holds M.Sc. degrees in Statistics from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and the University of Dhaka. Over the course of his academic career, he has held visiting and research appointments at St. Luke's International University (Japan), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA), Queen Mary University of London (UK), and the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge (UK).

Professor Latif's research focuses on developing statistical methods for causal inference and applying them to address important questions in public health and epidemiology. His current work includes sensitivity analysis for unmeasured confounding, causal mediation analysis, estimation of causal effects from observational studies in the presence of missing data and measurement error, and methodological developments for complex study designs. He has also made significant contributions to survival analysis, experimental design, longitudinal data analysis, and computational statistics.

He has published extensively in leading international statistical and biomedical journals, including Biometrics, Statistics in Medicine, Bioinformatics, Statistical Methods in Medical Research, BMC Medical Research Methodology, Journal of Applied Statistics, and BMJ Open. In addition to his research, Professor Latif is committed to graduate education and research capacity building. He teaches courses in causal inference, survival analysis, regression modeling, and statistical computing; supervises graduate research in statistical methodology and biostatistics; and conducts professional training in R programming and modern data analysis for researchers and public health professionals. His long-term research vision is to develop rigorous statistical methods for causal inference that generate improved evidence from observational data and support informed decision-making in public health, medicine, and the social sciences.
