His academic career began in 2008, when he joined the Department as a Lecturer, and he was promoted to Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 2012 and 2018, respectively. Dr Siddiqui was promoted to the position of Professor in 2025. He completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Dhaka. In 2014, he pursued an MPhil in Public Administration at the University of Bergen, Norway, supported by a prestigious Norwegian government scholarship. Notably, Dr. Siddiqui’s expertise in research methods is demonstrated by the publication of TWO peer-reviewed articles based on his Ph.D. thesis. His articles, “Sequential Explanatory Mixed-Methods Research: Adapting in the Conflict-affected Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh,” published in the Asian Journal of Peacebuilding, and "Systematic Review: Post-conflict Peacebuilding Literature and Methodological Challenges," published in the International Journal of Multicultural Education, showcase the unique methodological contributions of his PhD thesis. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Siddiqui is an active public intellectual, often contributing op-eds and expert opinions to media outlets on pressing socio-religious and political issues, both within and outside Bangladesh. For more than 17 years, alongside his university duties, Dr. Siddiqui has been involved in research and consultancy with renowned organizations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), International Rescue Committee (IRC), UNHCR, World Vision, and various ministries of the Government of Bangladesh. His work in these roles has focused on humanitarian assistance, refugee management, and development, allowing him to apply his academic peacebuilding insights to real-world problems.
