Mohammad Rashed Alam Bhuiyan is a faculty member of Political Science at the University of Dhaka since 2013. He is a Climate Research Fellow of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)
https://www.acu.ac.uk/our-work/projects-and-programmes/climate-research-cohort/meet-the-23-24-fellows/). He is an Associate fellow (AFHEA) of Advance HE, UK. His expertise lies in Political Economy, International Trade and Finance, studying various forms of Internal and International Migration, Adaptation to Climate Change, Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Development, Migrants' rights and Well-being. He did his PhD from Coventry University, UK with full funding. His thesis titled “Migration and Precarity in the Bangladesh Malaysia Migration Corridor” addresses the precarity Bangladeshi migrants experience in different stages of migration particularly during recruitment, employment and everyday life in Malaysia. It has adopted a transnational and multi-scalar institutional approach to understand the role of various actors in producing the exploitative conditions in which the men live and labour in Malaysia. In so doing, his thesis also raises significant empirical, political and conceptual points regarding precarity, power, agency and the role of migration in the global political economy. He has several research collaborations and involved with several research projects conducted jointly with the University of Exeter, Sussex, Southampton and other research units, primarily focused on International Labour Migration, Internal Migration (Climate-Induced Migration & Displacement), Adaptation to Climate Change, Sustainable Cities and Inclusive Urban Development.
