Gender and Genocide | I am currently working on an UCL project, funded by the British Academy, where we intend to develope a theoretical framework to unravel the gender dynamics of genocide denial. I am working to understand how the non-recognition of gendered violence against Rohingya men and women as a weapon of ethnic cleansing ultimately led to the systematic denial of the Rohingya genocide. |
Geopolitics and International Development | I am looking for empirical opportunities to explore how the shfting geo-political landscape of current world is jeoperdizing the promises of international development, with a special interest on gender issues. I intend to understand, how Bangladesh, a country heavily reliant on international trade and foreign aid, can cope with the gender and development related challenges arising from the growing geo-political tensions. |
Human migration | Through participating in various reseach projects, I had the opportunity to scrutinize the gendered dimensions of human migration in the context of environmental crisis, genocide, human rights violation, and paid work. I look forward to further explore this area from a more global/international perspective. |
Environment and natural resource management | My master's thesis examined the neo-liberal politics of natural resource management in Bangladesh and how it affects the gendered patterns and outcomes of human mobility in the face of worsening climate crisis. I have also worked on a few other research projects, by embracing the theoretical underpinnings of feminist political ecology, where I examined how resource politics is linked to gender roles, relations, and identity formation from global to local levels. |
Disaster and Gender | Majority of my existing reseach work revolve around this area, where I have tried to understand the post-structuralist accounts of gender and disaster. My publications highligh not only the gendered vulnerabilities in disaster contexts, but also shed light on how women and other vulnerable groups exercise agency and resilience during challenging times. |
