Azhar Uddin Bhuiyan is a Lecturer at the Department of Law, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and works as an Assistant House Tutor at the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Master of Law (LLM) in International and Comparative Law from the Department of Law, University of Dhaka. He has completed a second Master of Law (LLM) in Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom as UK Government's FCO Chevening Scholar, and Cambridge Trust Scholar. His LLM Dissertation under the supervision of Professor Henning Grosse Ruse-Khan explored competition related TRIPS flexibilities in the pharmaceutical sector.

Mr. Bhuiyan has previously served as Lecturer at the Department of Law, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), and in 2022, he was appointed as the Non-Government Adviser to the antitrust/competition authority of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Competition Commission for a period of two years. He has also worked in two top-tier law firms in Bangladesh - Alliance Laws, and A.S & Associates. He is also a life member at the oldest debating society of the world, The Cambridge Union as a Silver Street Scholar, and has served as the Blogs Editor of Cambridge International Law Journal. In his student life at Dhaka, he served as founding Editor in Chief of Dhaka University Law and Politics Review, and also led the Dhaka University Moot Court Society as its General Secretary.

He has published articles in international journals and book chapters with reputed national and international publishers including Edward Elgar, Brill, Springer, Thomson Reuters, Prothoma etc. His field of academic interest includes competition law, corporate law, financial law, and intellectual property law. He is credited with introducing a full fleged graduate level course on Competition Law for the first time in Bangladesh at the Master of Law (LLM) program in the Department of Law, University of Dhaka. He remains interested in academic collaboration, political and legal advocacy, corporate advisory and consultancy. He has received research grants from the University Grants Commission- Bangladesh, and the Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, and provided consultancy service to the UNDP Bangladesh, and BMEL.
