Biography
Dr. Md. Taibur Rahman is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He received his PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Göttingen, Germany, where he investigated host–pathogen interactions and Toxoplasma gondii stage conversion. | Microbiology/virology and Immunology | Dr. Taibur Rahman’s research focuses on molecular virology, host–pathogen interactions, viral immunology, and infectious disease pathogenesis. His primary interests include HIV-1 persistence and latency, mucosal transmission, host restriction factors, and mechanisms regulating viral replication and immune responses. He is also interested in hepatitis B virus (HBV) entry, persistence, and HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma, including host factors and biomarkers involved in disease progression. His broader research interests include viral infections and metabolic disorders, immunometabolism, vaccine-induced immune responses, transcriptomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, and multi-omics approaches to identify novel therapeutic and vaccine targets. |
