| Environmental Enteropathy and it's association with malnutrition | A sub clinical condition due to repeated enteric infection is known as Environmental Enteropathy (EE). Frequent exposure to enteric infection causes structural changes in intestinal mucosal lining, increased intestinal permeability which results in malnutrition, impaired gut immune function, growth retardation and oral vaccine failure. This study focuses on assaying some markers such as- Endotoxin Core Antibody (EndoCab), soluable CD14 (sCD14), Alpha-1-Anti Trypsin (AAT), Myeloperoxidase (MPO) to measure the correlation between enteric infection and malnutrition. These markers are very promising to evaluate EE and predictor of malnutrition. |
