Md. Imran Hossain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He joined the department as a full-time faculty member in 2014 after completing both his BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Dhaka, achieving outstanding academic results.

In 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship, funded by the Australian Government, to pursue a Master of Applied Finance at Monash University, Australia. He graduated with a perfect GPA and received several academic distinctions, including the Top Achieving Student Award, the Dean’s Award, and multiple Unit/Subject Awards.

Mr. Hossain is currently pursuing a PhD in Finance at the University of Queensland, Australia, under a fully funded scholarship. His research has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, focusing on corporate finance, financial regulation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and development finance.

A notable contribution to his research portfolio is the co-authored paper, “Collateral Shocks and M&A Decisions,” which originated from his Master's dissertation at Monash University and was subsequently published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, a leading international finance journal (ABDC: A*, ABS: 4, Scimago: Q1, Impact Factor: 5.9). The paper received the Best Paper Award at the 5th International Conference on Business and Economics 2021, organized by the University of Dhaka.

His research has also been presented at several prestigious international conferences, including the Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Meeting 2025, the New Zealand Finance Conference 2025, the Financial Research Network (FIRN) Annual Meeting 2025, and the FIRN Corporate Finance Conference 2025. In recognition of his research excellence, he was awarded Runner-Up Best Research Presenter at the University of Queensland PhD Research Colloquium 2024.

Through his teaching and research, Mr. Hossain is committed to advancing scholarly knowledge and contributing to evidence-based policymaking and the development of robust financial systems.
