As an assistant professor in the Linguistics department at the University of Dhaka (DU), I have the privilege of sharing my knowledge with students in courses that include Syntax 1, Psycholinguistics, Research Methodology and Linguistic Field Methods. My educational journey started with a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Dhaka, followed by a PhD from Monash University in Australia and IIT Bombay (IITB) in India, where I was fortunate to work under the guidance of Prof. Alice Gaby and Prof. Vaijayanthi Sarma, respectively. My academic areas of interest include Morpho-phonology; Syntax; Philosophy of language; Language and digital media; Field linguistics and language documentation.

The focus of my doctoral research is the grammar of the endangered Kol language, spoken in Bangladesh and belonging to the Austro-Asiatic language family. Through extensive fieldwork in Chapai Nawabganj, I have meticulously documented the Kol language. My doctoral studies, which are supported by the IITB-Monash Research Academy, are expected to be completed by 2024.

Beyond my academic pursuits, I have received the ELDP (SG) Grant from Germany to further my research on documenting visual narratives of the Kol community. Previously, I held positions as a lecturer in the Linguistics department and as a research associate for the Ethnolinguistic Survey of Bangladesh at the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI), Dhaka, Bangladesh. My contributions extend beyond the classroom, as I also work as an associate editor for the Matribhashapedia (Mother Language Encyclopedia) at IMLI, Dhaka and Dhaka University Journal of Linguistics (DUJL) at DU.

My interests encompass a diverse array of creative endeavours, ranging from translation and writing to street photography, memes, and graphic novels. These passions complement my academic pursuits and enrich my perspective as a researcher/learner dedicated to studying and preserving linguistic diversity. Non-academic interests include things like interpreting poems, writing non-fiction, and decoding memes- and I need to make sure that I consider these entities in my daily life.
