Afroza Shelley holds a Doctor of Engineering degree (2000) from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. She subsequently completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship (2001–2004) at the Laboratory for Advanced Reactor Design, Department of Energy Science, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute.
