At present, Dr. Md. Selim Reza is a Grade-1 professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka. He chaired the Department from 2014-17.

He also acted as Department Head in the University of Asia Pacific (2003-06) and Southeast University (2008-2011). He was adviser in Daffodil University (2013-16).

Md. Selim Reza has completed B. Pharm (Hons.) and M. Pharm degree from Department of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka in the year of 1987 and 1989 respectively.

He obtained PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology from University of Strathclyde, UK under Commonwealth Scholarship in the year of 1997. His research was on: “Biodegradable microspheres for drug delivery”. He was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in King’s College London in 2003 under the same scheme and researched on “Microencapsulation for drug delivery to the lungs”.

Dr. Reza was a member of Drug Control Subcommittee in Directorate of Drugs Administration from 2014-2017. One of the goals of DGDA is to have harmonized and functioning Quality Management System (QMS) within DGDA in accordance with national and internationally recognized standards ISO 9001:2015.

An external audit was requested as a first step towards identifying any needed improvements in the DGDA Quality Management System. As a professor of Pharmaceutical Technology, DU and a member of BSTQM he conducted the audit which include compliance with the requirement as per WHO Global Benchmarking Tool for 7 functions of DGDA, namely: National Regulatory System (RS), Registration and Marketing Authorization (MA), Pharmacovigilance (VL), Post Marketing Surveillance and Control (MC), Licensing Premises (LI), Regulatory Inspection (RI) and Clinical Trial Oversight (CT).

Appointed as world Bank consultant to work with The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (GoB) to implement the 4th Health, Population and Nutrition Sector Programme (4th HPNSP) for a period of five and half years from January 2017 to June 2022.

He also worked as the Head of IQAC of Faculty of Pharmacy, DU. The Self-Assessment (SA) entity under this initiative have taken measures to implement key change in teaching, learning & assessment for Outcome Based Education (OBE).

He is a member of the inspection team made by Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He along with the Director General of Drug Administration & other members has visited MST pharma in Gazipur and Avert Pharma in Savar, submitted a detailed report on the current situation on GMP and other regulatory aspects.
