Nasreen Shams Chowdhury

Professor Nasreen Shams Chowdhury was born in a noble Muslim family in Dhaka. She is the eldest daughter of philanthropist, educationist Anwara Bahar Chowdhury and Mr. Habibullah Bahar Chowdhury founder of Habibullah Bahar College. She graduated from the Department of Physics, and then joined the same department as a lecturer. She was the first graduate from Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA). She was a regular singer artist in BTV and Bangladesh Betar since 1964 along with her teaching position in the department. “Music is my therapy," says Prof. Nasreen. "I want to sing for myself and my satisfaction," is a comment from the passionate lover of Rabindra Sangeet.
