On the morning of August 1, 2024, the Bangladeshi Young Diplomats Delegation visited the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee for a study tour and engaged in in-depth interactions with leaders, standing committee members, and committee members of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee.
Firstly, accompanied by Zhang Xiaosong, Standing Committee Member of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, along with Kong Rong, Full-time Deputy Director of the Committee for Friendship with Foreign Countries of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, the delegation watched the promotion video Shanghai Through the Lens and then toured the Presidential Conference Hall of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee.
Following that, Director Zhang Xiaosong presided over a symposium. During the symposium, Deputy Director Kong Rong introduced the basic functions of the CPPCC from three perspectives: China’s political system, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the CPPCC Shanghai Committee. Qian Jun, Standing Committee Member of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, and Executive Dean of Fudan International School of Finance, and Cheng Jian, Member of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee and Director of Shanghai Coordination Center of World Cities Day, respectively shared how CPPCC standing committee members perform their duties from the perspectives of financial policy and World Cities Day. During the interaction, the delegates had in-depth discussions with CPPCC members on issues such as the cooperation methods between the CPPCC and government departments, the handling of submitted proposals, etc.
Other attendees of the symposium included Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and Chairman of the Academic Board of the Center for China Studies (CCS), Zhu Juhua, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges at SIIS, Liu Zongyi, Director of Center for South Asia Studies at SIIS and Director of CCS, Tan Chenyi, Assistant Research Fellow of the Center for South Asian Studies at SIIS, and Ru Qi, Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh.
