128th Birth Anniversary of National Professor Qazi Motahar Hossain Celebrated at DU on July 30, 2025.
The 128th birth anniversary of Gyan Tapash (Sage of Knowledge) and National Professor Qazi Motahar Hossain, founder of the Department of Statistics and the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT) at the University of Dhaka, was observed on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
The commemorative event was held at the TSC Auditorium, jointly organized by the Qazi Motahar Hossain Foundation, the Department of Statistics, and the ISRT.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD, attended as the Chief Guest. This year’s memorial lecture, titled “Bond of the Duo: Kazi Nazrul Islam – Qazi Motahar Hossain”, was delivered by Dr. Bhishmadev Chowdhury.
The program also featured the awarding of scholarships, medals, and prizes by the Qazi Motahar Hossain Foundation to recognize outstanding academic achievements.
Faculty members, students, alumni, and well-wishers attended in large numbers, paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Professor Qazi Motahar Hossain.
