Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manzur Morshed Trust Fund’ Launched to Support Linguistics Students at DU
ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের বিভিন্ন বর্ষের শিক্ষার্থীদের বৃত্তি প্রদানের লক্ষ্যে ‘অধ্যাপক ড. আবুল কালাম মনজুর মোরশেদ ট্রাস্ট ফান্ড’ শীর্ষক নতুন একটি ট্রাস্ট ফান্ড গঠন করা হয়েছে। পিতার স্মৃতি রক্ষার্থে এই ট্রাস্ট ফান্ড গঠনের জন্য প্রয়াত অধ্যাপক ড. আবুল কালাম মনজুর মোরশেদ-এর কন্যা মনজুলা মোরশেদ ১৫ লাখ টাকার একটি চেক আজ ২০ মার্চ ২০২৫ বৃহস্পতিবার ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. নিয়াজ আহমদ খান-এর কাছে হস্তান্তর করেন । এসময় কোষাধ্যক্ষ অধ্যাপক ড. এম. জাহাঙ্গীর আলম চৌধুরী, কলা অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. মোহাম্মদ ছিদ্দিকুর রহমান খান, ভারপ্রাপ্ত রেজিস্ট্রার মুনসী শামস উদ্দিন আহম্মদ, আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা ইনস্টিটিউটের পরিচালক অধ্যাপক ড. মুহাম্মদ আসাদুজ্জামান, ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের চেয়ারপার্সন ড. মনিরা বেগম, এবং ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের শিক্ষকবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। ট্রাস্ট ফান্ডের মাধ্যমে ভাষাবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য প্রতি বছর ৯টি মেধাবৃত্তি প্রদান করা হবে। এই ট্রাস্ট ফান্ড মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীদের উচ্চশিক্ষায় উৎসাহিত করার পাশাপাশি তাদের আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করবে। একইসঙ্গে এটি ভাষাবিজ্ঞান চর্চায় ড. আবুল কালাম মনজুর মোরশেদ-এর অবদানকে স্মরণীয় করে রাখবে এবং এবং ভবিষ্যৎ গবেষকদের জন্য অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস হিসেবে কাজ করবে। (A new trust fund titled ‘Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manzur Morshed Trust Fund’ has been established to provide scholarships to students of various academic years in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Dhaka. In honor of her late father, Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manzur Morshed, his daughter, Monzula Morshed, formally presented a cheque of BDT 1.5 million (15 lakh taka) to the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, on Thursday, 20 March 2025.The event was graced by the presence of Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, Director of the International Mother Language Institute Professor Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics Dr. Monira Begam, as well as distinguished faculty members of the Department of Linguistics. This initiative is expected to provide significant financial support and motivation to students pursuing higher education in linguistics. It also serves as a tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr Abul Kalam Manzur Morshed, whose academic contributions continue to inspire future generations of scholars.)
