On May 28, 2023, Alifa Chin, a Bangladeshi girl who was born in the Chinese Peace Ark Hospital, paid a visit to the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, accompanied by her family, school teachers, her friends and high officials from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh. Chin's unique name serves as a testament to the deep-rooted friendship between China and Bangladesh. In 2010, when the hospital ship Peace Ark of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) came to Chittagong, Bangladesh to provide free medical services to local people, it saved the life of a critically ill pregnant woman and assisted in the successful delivery of her a baby girl. In gratitude, the girl's father named her Chin, which means "China" in Bengali.
During their visit to the Confucius Institute, Chin and her delegation were warmly welcomed by Dr. Yang Hui, the Chinese director, and the institute's teachers. Following a brief introduction about the Confucius Institute by a local Chinese language teacher named Mr. Aga Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Chin and her family expressed their eagerness to learn Chinese. The Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Yue Liwen, encouraged Chin to work diligently and become a true representative of China-Bangladesh friendship. Dr. Yang Hui, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, assured Chin that they would provide the necessary support for her Chinese language learning journey and foster her deeper understanding of China. As a piece of appreciation, Dr. Yang Hui presented Chin some Chinese books.
Chin's story symbolizes the enduring friendship between China and Bangladesh. The Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka has long been committed to fostering friendly relations between the two nations and promoting language and cultural exchanges. Chin's visit further strengthens the institute's dedication to its mission of facilitating people-to-people connections through language and cultural integration.
2023年5月28日，在中国驻孟加拉国使馆文化处参赞乐利文、二秘郎琅的专程陪同下，孟加拉国“和平方舟”女孩沁（Chin，孟加拉语意为“中国”）及其家人、学校老师和同学一行到访达卡大学孔子学院。
“沁”这个特别的名字背后是一个令人动容的中孟友好故事。2010年11月，在孟吉大港执行“和谐使命2010”任务的中国海军“和平方舟”号医院船上救治了当地一位情况危急的难产孕妇，帮助她顺利诞下一名女婴。为了表达对中国的感激之情，其父将女孩取名为“沁”（Chin）,即孟语“中国”之意。
沁一行人受到了达卡孔院中方院长杨惠和所有老师的热情接待。达卡孔院本土教师于浩文简要介绍了孔子学院情况，沁和家人表达了想要学习中文的强烈愿望。乐利文参赞鼓励她以达卡孔院两位优秀的孟加拉国本土中文教师为榜样，勤奋努力、坚持不懈学好汉语，继续做中孟友好的使者。杨惠院长表示达卡孔院作为在孟专业中文教育机构和文化交流机构，非常乐意为沁提供学习中文、了解中国所需帮助。最后，杨院长将精心挑选的中文书赠予沁，并为来宾送上了孔院纪念品。
孟加拉女孩“沁”的诞生和成长是中孟友谊的象征和延续。达卡孔院一直致力于培养懂中文的中孟友好使者，推动中孟人文交流，沁与中国的故事和来访更加坚定了达卡孔院履行“从语言入手，用文化交融，促民心相通”光荣使命的决心。
