07 December, 2024: The ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2024 was held on December 7, 2024, at Daffodil International University, bringing together 308 teams, selected through an online preliminary contest, from across Bangladesh to compete in this prestigious programming competition. The event lasted for five hours, during which participants tackled a challenging set of 12 problems on the bapsoj.org platform. The contest showcased a vibrant spirit of competition, innovation, and teamwork.

The University of Dhaka fielded nine teams in this year’s contest, selected based on prior achievements and competitive performance. Among these, two teams achieved remarkable success, with DU_Singularity securing 2nd place by solving seven problems and DU_Primordius achieving 3rd place with six problems solved. Both teams demonstrated exceptional problem-solving abilities and resilience under pressure, competing against the nation’s best and brightest. Additionally, four of the other teams ranked in the top 50, further highlighting the strength of our representation.

This year’s problem set was both challenging and engaging, requiring participants to exhibit a blend of algorithmic knowledge, analytical thinking, and teamwork. The competition also provided a unique platform for new teams to gain valuable experience, while experienced teams had the opportunity to test their skills against other top-performing groups.

The University of Dhaka extended extensive support to the participants during their preparation phase. Rigorous training sessions, guided by experienced mentors, were organized to ensure the teams were well-equipped to face the competition. On the day of the event, transportation services were provided, ensuring smooth and timely participation.

The contest was graced by distinguished guests and observers from various institutions, making the event even more memorable. The exposure and interactions during the event fostered a spirit of camaraderie and intellectual exchange among participants from diverse backgrounds.

Looking ahead, the top teams will now focus on preparing for the 2024 ICPC Asia West Continent Final Contest, with the ambition of qualifying for the 50th ICPC World Finals. The remaining teams, motivated by this years’ experience, are determined to return stronger in the next edition, equipped with better preparation and refined skills.
