02 July, 2025: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka (CSEDU), organized the Fresher’s Reception 2025 on 2nd July 2025, Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Department Auditorium, 6th Floor. The event was held to extend a warm welcome to the newly admitted students of Batch 31 and was organized by Batch 30 with the active support and guidance of the department.
The program began with a warm welcome to the freshers by Dr. Mosarrat Jahan, Student Advisor and Associate Professor, who discussed the challenges that new students may encounter as they transition into university life. Her speech emphasized the importance of adaptability, resilience, and seeking support within the CSEDU community.
Following her, Professor Dr. Suraiya Pervin delivered a thought-provoking address focused on building a strong academic profile alongside maintaining ethical integrity. She encouraged students to pursue academic excellence while upholding the values of honesty, discipline, and responsibility.
The introductory speeches were followed by a slideshow presentation featuring the faculty members of CSEDU, aimed at familiarizing the new students with the teaching and research strengths of the department.
After the faculty introduction, Lecturer Md. Fahim Arefin presented a detailed overview of the B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering program structure, including academic requirements, course layout, and departmental opportunities. The session served to provide the new students with clarity on the academic roadmap ahead.
The event then proceeded to the formal guest segment. The department was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests. The Chief Guest was Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka. The following dignitaries attended as Special Guests:

All the special guests spoke about their respective fields and how they are increasingly interconnected with computer science and engineering. The event concluded with closing remarks by the Session Chair, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, who reiterated the department’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and innovation. The program ended with the ceremonial handover of special laptops sponsored by Bangladesh Finance Limited, a generous contribution that will further strengthen the department’s educational infrastructure.
