On May 14, 2023 a seminar was jointly organized by Disaster Research Training and Management Centre (DRTMC) and Bangladesh Geographical Society (BGS) where Professor Dr. A K M Anwaruzzaman, Department of Geography, Aliah University, West Bengal (Kolkata), India presented the keynote paper on “Natural Disaster and Human Suffering: Untold Story of River Bank Erosion Victims of Malda and Murshidabad Districts (West Bengal), India”.
Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Dhaka was present as chief guest and Professor Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Dhaka as special guest in the seminar.
Professor Dr. M. Shahidul Islam made a short welcome address as the director of DRTMC and general secretary of BGS.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Raquib Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of the Fareast International University and Vice President of the Bangladesh Geographical Society (BGS). Ms Maliha Haque, Lecturer of the department of Geography and Environment, University of Dhaka moderated the seminar.
