Biomedical Physics & Technology:
Design and Develop low cost medical instruments for technology dissemination in the Third World. The research group of Biomedical Physics & Technology has already achieved significant innovations in following fields, (i) Destruction of diarrhoeal germs in water at low cost using simple and easily available materials, which also provide an indirect means of solving arsenic problem. (ii) A novel Focused Impedance Method (FIM) with significant potential in the detection and diagnosis of disorders and disease of lungs, stomach and certain cancers, in monitoring of radiotherapy, etc. This idea has received international acclaim on which Universities in UK and Korea have already started work. (iii) Discovery of a new neuro physiological parameter named Distribution of F-latency (DFL), having potential in the detection and diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy. (iv) Design and development of low cost medical instruments for technology dissemination in the Third World.
This department developed a telemedicine system (both hardware and software with associated diagnostic devices) for providing primary healthcare facilities to the rural areas through internet The a2i project under the Prime Minister’s office of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Government funded the department to implement the telemedicine service countrywide through entrepreneurs.
Applied Mathematics:
Fluid Mechanics
This area includes Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids for industrial applications, Magneto-hydrodynamics, Aerodynamics, Mathematical Hydrology, Bio-fluid Mechanics, Nano-fluids, Computational Fluid Mechanics, and Meteorology.
Numerical Methods
Theory of Relativity and Cosmology
Riemannian Geometry and Tensor Analysis
Financial Mathematics
Dynamical Meteorology
Applied Dynamical Systems
This subject deals with change, with systems that evolve in time. Dynamics analyzes whether the system in question settles down to equilibrium, keeps repeating in cycles, or does something else complicated. It has wide application in differential equations, classical mechanics, chemical kinetics, population biology, ecology and mathematical geosciences and so on.
Theoretical and Computational Chemistry:
Computational chemistry is a natural outgrowth of theoretical chemistry, the traditional role of which involves the establishment of a conceptual understanding and quantitative characterization for the chemical sciences, particularly at the atomic and molecular levels.
Computational chemistry programs are used for:
