The Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka, organized a study tour to Sunamganj from 14th to 16th September 2025 as part of the B.S. (Hons.) in Meteorology program, Session 2020–2021. This academic initiative was conducted under the course MetLb410: Climatology and Climate Modelling, coordinated by Professor Dr. Towhida Rashid and Dr. Md. Nazmul Ahasan. The study tour was guided by Lecturer Pronab Das, Department of Meteorology, and Guest Faculty Dr. Md. Nazmul Ahasan, Registrar, Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE).
During the field visit, students explored the solar and wind energy potential of the haor region by employing scientific instruments such as the pyranometer for measuring solar radiation and the Kestrel wireless environmental data logger for recording wind parameters. This hands-on observation enabled students to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications in renewable energy research.
As part of the academic exposure, the students also visited the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) office in Sunamganj. They gained valuable insights into hydro-meteorological operations and river station instrumentation systems enhancing their understanding of real-world applications in weather, climate, and water resource management.
