Chinese Ambassador Mr. Yao Wen met with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University 姚文大使会见达卡大学校长尼亚兹
On September 10, 2024, Chinese Ambassador Mr.Yao Wen visited the University of Dhaka and met with Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, the new Vice Chancellor of DU. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and Bangladesh in education, academia and youth.
Ambassador Yao Wen congratulated the Vice Chancellor Prof. Niaz on his assumption of office, saying that China is as committed as ever to developing good-neighborly and friendly relations for all Bangladeshi people and continuously enhancing educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. It is hoped that the University of Dhaka will give full play to the role of the Confucius Institute and the Center for China Studies, actively carry out Chinese language education, expand inter-university exchanges with China, strengthen cooperation in studying in each other’s countries, deepen joint research between the two countries, and continuously enrich the connotation of bilateral friendly relations.
The Vice Chancellor Prof.Niaz warmly welcomed Ambassador Yao Wen's visit, saying that China is a close neighbor of Bangladesh. The University of Dhaka has been maintaining cooperation with relevant Chinese universities and academic research institutions and has benefited a lot. The University of Dhaka will fully support cooperation with China and welcomes more Chinese universities and scholars to come to the University for exchanges, so as to contribute to the enhancement of people-to-people exchanges and educational cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Li Shaopeng, Counselor of the Cultural Section of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Dhaka University, Prof.Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Director of the Office of International Affairs, DU, and Dr.Yang Hui, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at DU, attended the meeting.

姚文大使祝贺尼亚兹校长履新，表示中方一如既往致力于发展面向全体孟人民的睦邻友好关系，不断增进两国教育合作和人文交流。达卡大学是孟加拉国最高学府，希望达卡大学充分发挥孔子学院和中国研究中心作用，积极开展中文教育，扩大对华校际交流，加强两国留学合作，深化双方共同研究，不断丰富两国友好关系内涵。
尼亚兹校长热烈欢迎姚文大使到访，表示中国是孟加拉国亲密邻邦。达卡大学一直与中国有关高校与学术研究机构保持合作，受益匪浅。达卡大学将全力支持对华合作，欢迎更多中国高校和学者来达卡大学交流，为增进两国人文交流与教育合作做出贡献。
中国驻孟使馆文化处参赞李少鹏、达卡大学文学院院长希迪克教授、达卡大学国际事务处处长莫图扎教授以及达卡大学孔子学院中方院长杨惠等参与了会谈。
