达卡大学校长赴华参加世界中文大会和孔子学院理事会The Vice Chancellor of DU Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan paid a fruitful visit to China
From November 15 to 19, 2024，Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University was invited by Yunnan University, coordinated by the Confucius Institute at DU, to visit China for the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference in Beijing and the Joint Board Meeting of Confucius Institutes in Kunming, China.
On November 15 afternoon, Prof. Dr. Niaz was invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and Plenary of the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference in Beijing as a VIP. Themed "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance, Innovation", the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference is hosted by the Ministry of Education. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Conference. In his letter, Xi also congratulated the Confucius Institute on the 20th anniversary of its establishment.
Vice-President Han Zheng read out Xi's letter and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, highlighting that international Chinese language education has opened a window for people in various countries to learn Chinese and built a bridge of communication to enhance friendship between China and people from all over the world. The Opening Ceremony was hosted by Dr. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, People’s Republic of China.
The conference, running from 15th to 17th , brought together over 2,000 participants, including government officials, school principals, experts, scholars, representatives of teachers and students, and diplomatic envoys from more than 160 countries and regions.
In the morning of November 15, Prof. Dr. Ma Wenhui, the president of Yunnan University had a meeting with delegates from four Confucius Institutes hosted by Yunnan University and its foreign partners from Bangladesh, Iran and Myannmar. During the meeting, Dr. Niaz and Dr. Ma Wenhui signed the MoU between University of Dhaka and Yunnan University.
On November 19, the Joint Board Meeting of Yunnan University Confucius Institutes was held in Yunnan University. The meeting listened to the annual work report for 2024 and the key work plan for 2025 of the four Confucius Institutes (classrooms) of Yunnan University, announced the board members for 2025, and discussed how to further deepen the international Chinese language education and the development of Confucius Institutes, and promote academic cooperation and exchanges under the new situation. Dr. Niaz delivered a speech in the meeting.
2024年11月15-19日，达卡大学校长尼亚兹•艾哈迈德•汗（Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan）受邀赴北京参加2024年世界中文大会和在云南大学举行的孔子学院理事会，达卡大学国际事务处主任沙姆萨德•莫图扎（Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza）、达卡大学现代语言学院代理院长、孔子学院代理外方院长穆罕默德·阿布萨·卡迈勒（Prof. Dr. Mohammad Absar Kamal）和达卡大学孔子学院中方院长杨惠陪同校长访华。
11月15日-17日，2024世界中文大会在北京国家会议中心成功举办，本次大会以“联通融合 传承创新”为主题，由中华人民共和国教育部主办，教育部中外语言交流合作中心、中国国际中文教育基金会与世界汉语教学学会共同承办。国家副主席韩正出席，宣读习近平主席贺信并致辞，教育部部长怀进鹏主持开幕式。共有来自160余个国家和地区的2000多名政府官员、校长、专家学者、师生代表和驻华使节等出席会议。
达卡大学校长尼亚兹作为重要嘉宾受邀出席世界中文大会开幕式和全体大会。会议期间，尼亚兹校长一行参加了云南大学孔子学院座谈会，与云南大学校长马文会会面，并与云南大学4所孔子学院（课堂）的中外方代表进行交流。座谈会上，尼亚兹校长与马文会校长还共同签署了两校合作备忘录。
19日，尼亚兹校长率达卡大学代表团一行参加了在云南大学举办的孔子学院理事会联席会议。会议听取了云南大学4所孔子学院（课堂）的2024年年度工作报告及2025年重点工作计划，宣布了新一届理事会相关事项，就新形势下如何进一步深化国际中文教育和孔子学院发展工作、推动学术合作交流等进行了探讨。
在昆明期间，尼亚兹校长一行还到访云南大学东陆校区，与云南大学国际关系研究院、云南大学汉语国际教育学院相关负责人就两校科研交流与合作、学生联合培养等问题进行探讨。
达卡大学校长尼亚兹高度赞赏孔子学院在促进两校合作和中孟语言文化交流方面发挥的积极作用。他表示，中孟传统友谊历久弥坚，明年是中孟建交50周年，他希望孔子学院继续搭建中孟文明交往交流平台，增进语言文化互学互鉴，加强两国青年交流，为促进中孟民心相通作出更大贡献。
