The Computer Science and Engineering Department of University of Dhaka (CSEDU) held its annual picnic on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Fortis Downtown Resort, a nice venue situated just outside the city of Dhaka. This yearly outing allows faculty members, students, and staff-officers to get together in a relaxed setting, helping build team spirit and connections within the department.

The picnic had a great turnout, with most stakeholders attending, including faculty and the respected Department Chair, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque. Over 200 participants joined in total. Fortis Downtown Resort provided a calm and peaceful setting with impressive modern architecture, creating a visually appealing backdrop. Despite some delays from Dhaka's heavy traffic, the journey was worth it upon arrival. Another corporate group was also having an event at the resort that day, so some spaces and activities were shared between the two groups.

The resort offered various fun activities tailored to different interests. Attendees could enjoy swimming, tandem biking, and the exciting zip lining experience. Both students, alumni and faculty embraced these chances to have fun together. Around 2:30 PM, a tasty buffet lunch was served with a selection of Oriental and Bangladeshi dishes. The diverse food choices were appreciated by attendees who enjoyed sampling different flavors. After the meal, the resort staff entertained everyone with a lively music performance.

Later, the whole group met at the banquet hall for a series of engaging games and activities. A highlight was the "pillow passing" event that sparked friendly competition and lots of laughs. The afternoon ended with an exciting raffle where some lucky attendees won prizes, adding to the day's enjoyment. As evening fell, attendees departed for Dhaka, taking with them happy memories of a delightful day spent with colleagues and friends.

The organizers did well ensuring a fun and secure event for all. While some areas could be improved like the narrow path to the venue and location concerns, overall it was a successful event. The CSEDU Department Picnic 2024 achieved its goal of strengthening the department community, providing a nice break from academics and creating lasting positive memories.

The chairman of the department also expressed sincere gratitude to the Dean of the faculty of engineering and technology Professor Dr. Hafiz Md.
