Welcome to the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka (CIDU)!
Established in 2016 as a collaborative project between Yunnan University and the University of Dhaka, our institute has grown into a vibrant hub for Chinese language and culture in Bangladesh. Over the years, we have made remarkable progress in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between China and Bangladesh.
To date, we have established 9 teaching sites in universities, schools, and colleges in Dhaka, annually reaching over 1,000 Bangladeshi students. We also organize or participate in dozens of cultural events each year, bringing Chinese and Bangladeshi communities closer together. As an accredited HSK test center, we conduct at least six exams annually, providing internationally recognized proficiency assessments.
Our institute actively promotes academic exchange and talent cultivation. We offer the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, and have launched a joint program in Chinese and Bengali. Each year, we organize teaching and student groups for exchange visits to China, along with local teacher training programs. We are proud to have hosted the annually “Bangladesh Chinese Language Education Forum" "China-Bangladesh Language and Culture Camp" for six sessions.
We are also a pioneer in cultural innovation, having founded the "Shanhai" Chinese Choir, the first of its kind in Bangladesh. Additionally, we offer a variety of cultural courses, including Chinese calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, tea art, lion and dragon dance, and martial arts (Wushu).
Serving as a window for Chinese language learning and a bridge for Sino-foreign cultural exchange, CIDU continues to play a key role in fostering people-to-people connections. We actively facilitate partnerships between Chinese and Bangladeshi universities, and remain committed to deepening youth exchanges and mutual understanding between our two nations.
