The Department of Finance is the leading center of excellence and a unique institution in the University of Dhaka for upgrading professional expertise. Since its inception in 1974, it has been catering to the needs for executive and trained manpower development with very depth skills in the field of finance by providing B. Com Hons’ and M. Com degrees. In 1994, in line with developed world’s education system, the Department has been offering Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). To compete globally, professionals require expertise in business and financial management relevant to their work. To facilitate this process of professional development, the Department of Finance launched the Evening MBA Program in 2001 and Executive MBA program in 2022. Also there are Master of Professional Finance (MPF), Doctor of Business Administration, M. Phil and Ph. D. programs in the department.
These Programs are designed to offer courses following international standards using multidisciplinary approach in its teaching methods. The courses are specially tailored to meet the needs of our professional students. The strong involvement of the dedicated faculties of the department ensures that the higher education services are of the highest academic standards.
The academic environment of Department helps students to foster skills for stress management, quick decision making, strong inter-personal communication and develop organizing skills in managing affairs effectively despite resource constraints. Over last few decades, the department is on top ranked in University of Dhaka and in 2022 QS world ranking the Department is within 300 all over the world.
