Professor Mohammad Ismail, PhD (Cambridge, UK) (Ex-Vice Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University, 05 Sep, 2024 to 14th May 2026) has more than 20 years of teaching, research, consultancy and administrative experience in the area of energy, environment, clean fuel, carbon capture, climate change, air quality management and pollution control, waste management (biomass, plastic, textile, leather etc.), effluent treatment, fossil fuel and renewable fuel e.g. solar and biofuel. Currently, Dr. Ismail is serving as Professor of Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He awarded PhD in Engineering (Chemical) from University of Cambridge, UK (2016) and M.Sc. (2002) and B.Sc. (Hons) (2001) from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Ismail did his Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Cambridge in 2016. Dr. Ismail has the consultancy experience with UNDP, ADB, World Bank, GIZ and various private organizations.
He started career as a researcher, later in 2008, joined as faculty member of University of Dhaka and has multi-country work experience e.g., in United Kingdom, India and Bangladesh. He published more than 60 peer reviewed research articles, attended and presented around 50 national and international conferences in Bangladesh, India, Egypt, UK, Italy, Sweden, France, Denmark, USA, Netherland, Turkey etc. and managed 25 projects with Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, Ministry of Education, Bangladesh, Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Changes (MOEFCC), Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MoPEMR), Planning Ministry, University Grants Commission, Bangladesh, Global Challenge Research Fund, USAID-National Academy of Science Fund, USA etc. Dr. Ismail is also attached as adjacent faculty at various Public Institutes and Private universities of Bangladesh. He was the Director of RPGCL (Rupantarito Prakkritik Gas Company Limited) and Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BDREN). Dr. Ismail also writes articles on various issues at different Newspapers and Magazines. Dr. Ismail has great interest in contributing and collaborative projects and research as well as for University-Industry Alliance research.
Dr. Ismail is taking PhD and M.Phil students and happy to carry out collaborative research and consultancy
