Dr. Rahaman is involved with diverse professional activities, thus obtained a vast professional experiences through working in different capacities with different organisations for the last 20 years of his professional carrier. He awarded his PhD in 2017 from University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He also did a research based Masters in Inclusive and Special Education from University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2011. At present, he holds multiple positions, like: Chairman of the Department of Special Education under IER, DU; Course Coordinator of the Advanced course on Disability, Autism and Inclusive Education; Assistant Proctor for University of Dhaka; Moderator of Dhaka University Quiz Society; and so on. He has developed a Tertiary Teacher Development Program titled as Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching (PGDipHET) as the Team Leader for BUP.He is the author of 05books, 02 translated books, and published a number of research articles in various national and international journals. He had presented papers in different national and international conferences, i.e the AARE 2016 in Melbourne; ECER Conference 2015 in Budapest; ICERI 2011 in Madrid; Annual meeting of AERA, 2012 in Vancouver; and so on. His areas of interests are inclusive and special education, educating children with disabilities, globalisation and policy issues in special education, ICT in education, life-skill based education, action research, teacher training, hearing impairment, assistive technology, sign language, teacher training, modern teaching, etc. As recognition of his works, he has achieved awards from various national and international agencies, like EERA Bursary Award 2015 as the best emerging researchers in the European Education Research Conference; UC Doctoral Scholarship in 2014, etc. In undertaking and implementing research/developmental projects, he had also received researches grant/funding from: MoE, ADB, CIDA, NAEM, UGC, Bangladesh Police, TQI-II, University of Canterbury etc.

Dr Rahaman was the team leader for the development of course framework and curriculum for the post-graduate diploma in higher education teaching (DipHET) course for the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
