Dr. Rafia Rahman

Professional Faculty Member at Institute of Health Economics in University of Dhaka with more than ten years (2013 to 2023) of experience in public health which make strong background in teaching, research and scholarly activities. Verifiable experience assisting students and responding to departmental and institutional needs to support university mission and promote commitment to student success. As mid-level Administrator highly successful at motivating teams and streamlining operations. Analytical problem solver and persuasive communicator with talent for thinking outside the box for creative solutions. Forward-thinking, operations specialist bringing about nine years of expertise in implementation of public health programs engaging with national and international NGOs as public health professional. Cultivates rapport with individuals to optimize project goals and output, resolve complex problems and deliver innovative improvement strategies.

I set my sights high on utilization of my academic, management, analytical and organizational knowledge and skill in research and academic areas to develop a better society that would be effective and efficient.

Rafia Rahman, obtained Masters in Public Health (MPH, major in Public Health Administration) from National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) in 2010. Previously she completed MBBS (under University of Dhaka), Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Development Planning’ (from National Academy of Development and planning, Ministry of Planning, Bangladesh) and Masters in Health Economics (MHE) from University of Dhaka in 2002, 2008 and 2009 respectively. At the beginning of her career, she worked at different National and international NGOs in different positions and at research firms. Named; Palli Shishu Foundation of Bangladesh (USAID), EngenderHealth Bangladesh Country Office (USAID), Social Marketing Company (SMC), Urban Primary Healthcare Project (Dhaka city corporation, South) and Innovative Research & Consultancy Ltd as Monitoring Officer(medical),Project Coordinator, Consultant, Program Evaluation officer and Research Officer respectively from 2003 to 2013. She moved and joined as a Lecturer at the Institute of Health Economics (IHE), University of Dhaka in March 2013 and was appointed Assistant Professor at IHE in 2016 and working in the same.

About twenty years services inspire me to integrate health economics and public health basic facts and use of different tools of economics in health sector.To know the basic reciprocation between “health economics and public health” I wrote the book "Health Economics and Public Health". To me, this is one of best contribution in academic career as the book achieve good numbers of readers at ResearchGate and Academia.edu, also using as reference for undergraduate medical education. Before writing the book, Rafia Rahman published about 13articles in different national and international journals. Attend a good number of conferences and workshops as speaker, anchor and co-chair. Beside this she works with Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) {Tobacco control program} funded by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Public Health Foundation, Bangladesh. These are three major government and non-government organizations she is intimately attached to. She is Phd apprentice and issue of research is "value-based healthcare services", one of completely new work in South-Asia countries. The result of piloting was shared and get 2023 Award in 9th World Congress in Health Economics, Health Policy and Healthcare Management on 17April,2023.
