The International Awareness Day for Avoidable Deaths (IAD4AD) is an annual event led by the Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN), aiming to spotlight and mitigate avoidable disaster deaths worldwide, in alignment with UN frameworks. As Bangladesh is a highly disaster-prone nation and faces significant challenges in this regard. The ADN Bangladesh Chapter, established in 2023, plans activities including a national seminar and a media campaign to raise awareness, showcase best practices, advocate for improved data collection, and promote collaboration to address avoidable disaster deaths.
The seminar will prioritize prevention and collaborative efforts among multiple stakeholders to mitigate the impact of disasters and safeguard vulnerable communities. These initiatives are geared towards minimizing avoidable disaster-related fatalities, aligning with the vision and slogan of the Global Campaign asserting that "disaster deaths are avoidable" through proactive measures in prevention, intervention, and risk management governance.
As every life is a treasure and every life is precious.
