Inauguration ceremony of the ‘Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics Lab’ at the Department of the Microbiology, Dhaka University (DU) was held today (Tuesday), February 10, 2016. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as chief guest.

Later, another function for taking donation for ‘Microbiology Department of Dhaka University (MDDU) Trust’ was held at the departmental seminar room with departmental Chairperson Prof. Humayra Akhter in the chair. DU VC Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the function as chief guest. The function was also addressed by Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. Md. Emdadul Haque, eminent lawyer Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Ahsan and Prof. Dr. Mahfuzul Haque.

Barrister Rafiqul Haque handed over a cheque for Taka 10 lacs to DU VC Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique for ‘Microbiology Department of Dhaka University (MDDU) Trust’. Besides, Mrs. Monjura Joha handed over a cheque for Taka 2 lac to DU VC for this Trust. Some teachers of the department also handed over cheques of different amount to VC.

            DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Mrs. Monjura Joha and departmental teachers to donate money for enhancement of education and research at the Department of Microbiology.
