A new trust fund titled ‘Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam Trust Fund’ has been established at the Department of Psychology of Dhaka University (DU). Dr. Munmun Salma Chowdhury, wife of late Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam handed over a cheque for Tk. 25 lac to the Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today September 17, 2024 at the VC’s Lounge of the university to set up this trust fund.

Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Chairman of DU Psychology Department Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, some others faculty members and donor’s family members were present on this occasion.

Out of the income of this trust fund every year 14 students from different academic years of DU Psychology Department will be given scholarship. Besides, ‘Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam Memorial Lecture’ will be arranged.

It may be mentioned that Professor of DU Psychology Department Dr. Nazrul Islam died in 2015.
