Inflammation Biology | Persistent and inappropriately activated neutrophils play roles in the pathophysiology of a number of inflammatory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The destructive effects of neutrophils in the diseases are the result of altered cellular mechanisms such as dysregulated neutrophil apoptosis. Currently, I study molecular mechanisms of neutrophilic inflammation in the context of inflammatory diseases with an ultimate aim to Identify key neutrophil survival factors/mechanisms which have a potential to be therapeutically targeted for inflammatory diseases. |
