Antibiotic Resistance | Prevalence of antibiotic resistance genes in the clinical isolates of S. aureus and E. coli and searching novel compounds from plant resources to overcome this problem. |
|
Ethnopharmacology and Natural Product chemistry | Isolation of secondary metabolites and screening of their pharmacological properties | |
Microbiology | Our research group is focusing on the efflux pump genes in clinical isolates. We are also searching for increasing sensitivity patterns of current antibiotics by introducing novel adjuvant therapy to the resistant microorganisms. Therefore, we are in quest of searching naturally occurring Efflux Pump Inhibitors (EPIs) which are also called Resistance modifying agents (RMA’s) such as reserpine that may restore efficacy of a large number of antibiotics such as Linezolid, Ciprofloxacin, Chloramphenicol, Tetracycline etc. |
