Ahmed Bashir is Professor in the Department of English, University of Dhaka. He did his BA (Hons) and MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from the Department of English, University of Dhaka, and a second MA in TESOL from the University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus. His recent co-edited book titled Local Research and Glocal Perspectives in English Language Teaching: Teaching in Changing Times (2023) was published by Springer Nature. He also co-edited Dhaka University’s English Department: Centenary Perspectives (2022) and co-authored a number of books. He has published over twenty five articles in local and international journals and presented papers and talks as an invited speaker at over thirty national and international conferences including IATEFL, JALT, MELTA and NELTA conferences. He serves on the editorial board and the board of reviewers of a number of journals including TESL EJ, Springer Nature journals, Spectrum, and BELTA Journal. His areas of interest include language skills, learner strategies, learner autonomy, 21^st century skills, educational technology, translanguaging, and language testing and assessment. He is the current President of the Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA).
