Tanvir Nahid Khan joined the department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University as a lecturer in 2018. Prior to this he was working as a lecturer of Theatre department, Jagannath University. As a student of Theatre and Performance Studies, he was awarded the Dean's Award of Honour by the Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University in 2014 for his outstanding results. He also received the Zia Haider Memorial Scholarship.
Notable among his directed plays are: The Lower Depths (2018), Death Knocks (2016), Vaibe Radharomon (2015), The Misunderstanding (2013), Sector 11: Byaghro Akromon (2012) etc. He designed the stage and lighting for the plays like The Zoo Story, The Misunderstanding, Vaibe Radharomon, Death Knocks, Durghatana etc.
Notable plays he acted in are: Kalchautisha, Hamlet, Desire Under the Elms, Trishnay, Alexanderer Ghora, No One writes to the Colonel, Play with a Tiger, Behular Bhasan, How He Lied to Her Husband, Mricchkatika, Rupban, A Mid Summer Night’s Dream, Ingit, etc.
He participated in the South Asian Feminist Theatre Festival in 2010 as an actor in the play Behular Bhasan staged in Delhi and Kolkata under the direction of Syed Jamil Ahmed. In 2018, his directed play The Lower Depths participated in the IDLC Theatre Festival. Also in 2012, his directed play Sector 11: Byaghro Akromon (2012) participated in the Liberation War Festival organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He worked as an assistant director and assistant stage and light designer in the play Macbeth under the direction of Dr. Israfeel Shaheen at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav organized by National school of Drama (NSD) in India in 2019. The play Macbeth was staged in Delhi and Ranchi.
He participated in the theatre-making workshop conducted by Vladimir Vicher, A Russian theatre director, in 2015, workshop on ‘Theatre for Development’ was held at Luxmipur (2012), workshop on Lathi Khela (2011), workshop on Indigenous Theatre organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 2010, the 'Raibenshe Workshop’ organized by Indira Gandhi Cultural Center in 2008, and various theatre workshops and seminars in Bangladesh.
Tanvir Nahid Khan conducted several theatre workshops in Dhaka; Subchan Natya Sangsad, Mahakal Natya Sampradaya, Natyachakra, Friday Theatre, Classodrama, Several halls of Dhaka University, BRAC, North South University, and outside Dhaka in Jhenaidah, Chandpur, Sherpur, Barisal, Feni, Panchgarh, Gajipur, Sylhet, Savar, etc.
He teaches the courses of European theatre, form, style, drama history, acting theory, acting practicum, performance theory, speech training, colonial theatre, theatre direction etc.
He also provides voice-over in dubbing, advertisements and documentaries of foreign serials, cartoons and films. He has acted and worked as voice-actor on television drama, Film, serials and Cartoons. His notable dubbed serials and movies are Sultan Suleiman, Sultan Suleiman Kosem, Sherlock Holmes, Ezel, Fatmagul, Elif, Ben Ten, Peter Pan, Miracle in Cell no. 7, Swat, 2012, Kung-fu Hussell, Panda vs Alliens, Labyrinth, Bad boys etc. All these dubbed serials, Films and Cartoons have been aired on private TV channels.
Through his devotion to education and arts, he has been playing an important role in the performing arts and theatre of Bangladesh.
