History of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall

Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall is one of the historically renowned residential Halls in Dhaka University. Established in 1967, the hall was named after the prominent philanthropist in Bengal Haji Muhammad Mohsin who was born in Hughli in 1732. More than 1266 students live in 395 rooms in this hall where 539 students are with residential status and 727 are doubler. Moreover, 1324 non-resident students are officially attached with the hall. One Provost and twelve House Tutors stay round the clock to provide academic and administrative support to the students. For the enhancement of leadership, talent, and morality of the students the hall regularly arranges co-curricular activities and provide infrastructural facilities. Among others, Haji Muhammad Hall Debating Club and Badhon contribute to the development of leadership capacity and voluntary mindset of the students. Hall Union, as part of DUCSU culture, is active to promote social, cultural and political activities among students.

Famous personalities including popular writer Humayun Ahmed and many other political personalities were the residential students of this hall in their student life.
