Where can I find the Library layout? The University of Dhaka Library comprises three buildings: the Main Building, Administrative Building, and Science Building. The Main Building and Administrative Building each have two levels, while the Science Building is a two-storey facility. Are eating and drinking permitted in the Library? Eating and drinking are not permitted inside the Library. Users are requested to use the nearest eating place outside the Library. |

Are mobile phones permitted in the Library? Mobile phone conversations are permitted only in the stairways and should be conducted as quietly as possible. In areas designated for Quiet and Silent Study, mobile phones must be kept on silent mode to maintain a conducive study environment. |

What should I do if I lose something in the Library? If you lose a personal item, please inquire at the Reader Services Section on the ground floor of the Main Library. A fee of BDT 20 is charged for the loss of a library token. The applicable fee must be deposited at the University of Dhaka Branch of Janata Bank. |

What should I do if I find someone else’s belongings in the Library? Small personal items (such as purses, mobile phones, or borrowers’ ID cards) found within the Library should be handed over to the Reader Services Section on the ground floor of the Main Library. Lost property will be retained by the Section for a specified period before further action is taken. |

Where are the Quiet and Silent Study Areas located in the Library? The Reading Rooms of the Main Library and Science Library are designated as Quiet and Silent Study Areas to provide users with a conducive environment for reading, study, and academic work. |

Can I reserve a study carrel in the Library? The Main Library Building has 18 individual study carrels, with nine on each floor. Priority for the use of study carrels is given to faculty members. Carrels are generally allocated for a period of three months. Applications for a study carrel should be submitted to the Librarian and must include the applicant’s Library Borrower Number, contact information, and the reason for requesting a study carrel. |

How many resources a user can borrow at a time? How long? Faculty Members (including part-time) can Borrow 10 Books for 30 Days. M Phill. and PhD Researcher can Borrow 3 Books for 30 Days. Students of Science Library can Borrow 2 Books for 14 Days where the students of Arts and others can Borrow 1 Book from Library Seminar Section for the same duration. Registered Graduates can Borrow 1 Book for 30 Days. All officers can Borrow 5 Books for 30 Days. 3rd Class employees (all DU offices) can Borrow 1 Book for 30 Days. 4th Class employees (only DU library) can Borrow 1 Book for 30 Days. |

What are overdue charges or fines? When a borrower is failed to return the library materials on time he/she will have to pay fine. The fines are as follows- i. Faculty Members , M Phill. and PhD Researcher, Registered Graduate, All officers, 3rd Class employee (all office) and 4th Class employee (only library) ii. Students Overdue fine should be calculated from the mentioned due date/time of the material. |

What to do when a borrower lost a book? When a borrower lost a book he/she has to replace that item. If failed to replace then has to pay the 1 to 3 times double cost of the item. |

Who can use the library facilities? Faculty Members, Researchers, Students, Officials and Registered Graduates - who has valid Borrowers ID card can use the Library. |
