Message from the Director
Welcome to the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Dhaka. It is an honor to serve as the Director of this pivotal entity dedicated to enhancing the quality of education, research, and community engagement within our esteemed institution.
It is my pleasure to be a part of inspiring our commitment to quality higher education. Teaching success is the first, minimum, and indispensable requirement for every faculty member at the university. Understanding the undeniable need for effective teaching in a quality teaching environment and realizing how a teacher can ignite a student’s thirst for knowledge is our priority. This office aims to bring in the best ‘Skill’ and ‘Science’ of teaching to promote a conducive learning environment where blended learning is offered and taught through both technology and traditional face-to-face classroom methods. IQAC aims to become the national hub for the continuing professional development of academicians working in higher education institutions in Bangladesh by identifying opportunities, resources, and demands.
Our mission is anchored in the belief that transformative, high-quality education is the cornerstone of a sustainable knowledge-based society. We are committed to empowering our students with the skills, knowledge, and ethical values necessary to become innovative leaders and responsible global citizens. By integrating rigorous academic standards with innovative teaching practices and groundbreaking research, we strive to create an enriching learning environment that prepares our students to tackle future challenges.
Our ultimate initiative is to uphold and promote the Vision and Mission of the University of Dhaka, ensuring our activities align with its commitment to excellence in education and research.
Through our focus on collaborative research and innovation, we aim to cultivate partnerships both nationally and internationally. These collaborations expand the frontiers of knowledge and ensure our research has a tangible impact on society, addressing real-world issues and contributing to sustainable development. IQAC initiates innovative programs designed to enhance teaching and research excellence, including developing research ideas that provide an excellent research environment for students, teachers, and researchers to conduct and publish quality research.
This office is dedicated to ensuring Quality Assurance (QA) and strives to achieve excellence in Teaching and Learning (ETL). QA promotes a continuous process of evaluation through self-assessment and monitoring to improve the quality of education, research, and governance at the University of Dhaka, fostering a holistic quality culture. In contrast, ETL aims to generate knowledge on teaching and learning, recognize the development needs of teachers, staff, and students, and organize training (both in-house and online workshops). The goal is to enhance the individual and institutional proficiency of the teachers within the higher education system of the University of Dhaka (DU) and Bangladesh.
At IQAC, we believe in building an educational ecosystem emphasizing excellence, transparency, inclusivity, and accountability. Our quality assurance processes continuously enhance teaching standards, curriculum development, and institutional governance. We actively engage with local, national, and global stakeholders to foster partnerships that promote social equity, diversity, and sustainability. Additionally, we focus on industrial and community engagement, encouraging the university community to increase its international outlook. To achieve this, IQAC arranges a series of training sessions, workshops, and partnerships aimed at enhancing our global presence and impact.
We recognize the importance of nurturing ethical leadership and global citizenship among our students. Our goal is to instill a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and empathy, empowering them to be advocates for positive change in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
In addition to celebrating our rich national heritage, we are dedicated to promoting a global perspective that connects our students with international academic and cultural networks. This dual focus on local pride and global awareness is essential for shaping well-rounded individuals equipped to navigate and influence the world around them.
The importance of giving emphasis to individual learners is a primary focus of IQAC. Thus, IQAC is interested in understanding the demonstrative effects of implementing innovations in teaching and learning, active learning, student engagement, learning outcomes, and student retention. IQAC supports workshops for faculty in using various forms of technology, from chalkboards to online presentations.
This office inspires and supports best practices in quality assurance in teaching by engaging students for effective lifelong learning, guided by the advanced directions from the Chairman of the Quality Assurance Cell, University of Dhaka (QAC-DU), the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka.
