In a commendable move to enhance the sustainable management of marine ecosystems and bolster acidification monitoring, the ICOG in conjunction with the Department of Oceanography organized two pivotal training workshops in 2017. These sessions, spanning from 16th to 18th May and 13th to 15th June, were specially curated to augment the skills of 40 officials from the Department of Environment, Government of Bangladesh.
These enlightening workshops unfolded in the conference room of the Center for Advanced Research and Sciences (CARS) at the University of Dhaka. The ambiance was charged with fervor, reflecting the significance of the topics at hand and the expertise of those gathered.
Gracing the occasion with his esteemed presence, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. A. A. M. S. Arefin Siddique, stood as the chief guest, providing insightful perspectives and emphasizing the importance of sustainable marine practices. Further elevating the workshop's stature, Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Md. Roisul Alam Mandal, Director General of the Department of Environment, were in attendance as special guests, sharing their wisdom and experiences.
As a testament to the success of the workshop and the participants' dedicated involvement, the honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, concluded the sessions by awarding certificates to all the attendees. This gesture not only acknowledged the hard work of the participants but also reinforced the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in addressing marine challenges.
