The Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) Bangladesh Chapter successfully organized its chapter meeting on 28 June 2025 at the Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Fatima Akter, ADN Bangladesh Chapter Lead, Associate Professor, and Chairperson of the Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Nibedita S. Ray-Bennett, Founding President of ADN and Professor of Risk Management at the University of Leicester, UK. Also present were Prof. Dr. Fariha Haseen, Regional Coordinator of ADN and Professor of the Department of Public Health & Informatics at BMU, Dr. Arifatul Kibria, also Regional Coordinator of ADN and Associate Professor at AIUB, and Maqbul Bhuiyan, Advisor of ADN Bangladesh Chapter and Executive Director at Data Management Aid. The meeting was organised by Sadia Afrin Sayfa Negaban and Mohammad Fahimul Islam, Future Leader Interns of ADN, along with other ADN members and students of the Department of Meteorology.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Fatima Akter presented an overview of ADN Bangladesh Chapter’s activities over recent years. Following this, the distinguished guests handed over volunteering certificates to the volunteers who actively participated in the International Awareness Day for Avoidable Deaths 2025 in Bangladesh. The session concluded with a constructive discussion among all respected members regarding the upcoming massive event and other initiatives of ADN Bangladesh Chapter for the next year.
