At the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, a nine-member delegation of Bangladeshi scholars traveled to China from July 30 to August 4, 2023 to participate in the "Seminar on China-Bangladesh Relations " hosted by the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, and visited Yunnan from August 2-4. During the visit, the delegation had extensive and in-depth exchanges with Chinese scholars, which is conducive to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting future cooperation between the two sides.
On July 31, the Seminar on China-Bangladesh Relations was held at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS). More than 20 experts and scholars from Dhaka University, North-South University, Shanghai Institute for International Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Fudan University, Sichuan University, Yunnan University and Shenzhen University attended the seminar. Prof. Dr. Chen Dongxiao, the president of SIIS, and Prof.Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Director of the International Affairs Office, University of Dhaka, delivered the opening speech; Prof. Dr. Abdul Bashir, Dean of Faculty of Arts, DU, Prof. Yang Jiemian, Chairman of the Academic Advisory Council, SIIS, delivered the keynote speech. Experts and scholars from China and Bangladesh conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as "Political and Economic Situation at the Global and Regional Level: Perspectives of Chinese and Bangladeshi Scholars", "China's South Asia Policy" and "the State and Prospect of China-Bangladesh Relations".
The delegation also visited Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the First Memorial Hall of the Communist Party of China and other distinctive landmarks of Shanghai. They felt the changes of Shanghai in the past and present, as well as the path of China’s modernization reflected in the visit, and tried to understand China's new development concept.
From August 2 to 4, the delegation visited Yunnan Province. On October 3, Mr. Ma Zuoxin, the deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province, welcomed the delegation in Kunming. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh, Yunnan-Bangladesh exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been frequent and deepened. Three Confucius Institutes (classrooms) in Bangladesh are hosted by Yunnan University and Honghe University respectively, and many universities and institutions in Yunnan province have set up research institutes for South Asia studies or Bangladesh studies. There are two universities offering Bengali undergraduate program, and many Bangladeshi students choose to study in Yunnan. He expressed Yunnan provincial government’s support to promote the people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Prof. Shamsad Motuza, head of the delegation, said that China and Bangladesh enjoy a long history of friendship and fruitful cooperation. The visit of the delegation to China has expanded avenues for scholars of the two countries to further enhance mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation. The members of the delegation expressed their opinions and suggestions on the development of friendly relations between Bangladesh and China and cooperation between Yunnan and Bangladesh in various fields, hoping that the two sides will work together to promote China-Bangladesh friendship in the future.
After the meeting, the delegation also had in-depth exchanges and discussions with experts and scholars on international issues from Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Yunnan University and Yunnan University of Finance and Economics. Former Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Li Jiming, as an old friend, came to visit the delegation and encouraged both sides to strengthen exchanges.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited the Institute of International Relations of Yunnan University and had a discussion and exchange with the teachers and students of the institute. Professor Lu Guangsheng, Dean of the Institute, welcomed the delegation. He expressed the hope to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation with Bangladeshi universities. The graduate students of the institute introduced their research areas and asked many questions to the delegation.
The members of the delegation said they were glad to see the strong interest of Chinese students in Bangladeshi Studies and welcomed them to study and conduct field research in Bangladesh. They expressed the hope to promote substantive cooperation with the Institute on the basis of the existing inter-university cooperation mechanism, and make use of the good platform of the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka to further promote interaction and exchanges between the two sides.
The visit to China, supported by Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Bangladeshi academic circles, and is also one of the important activities of the Center for China Studies at University of Dhaka. The delegation was headed by Prof. Shamsad Motuza, Director of the International Affairs Office of the University of Dhaka, with other 8 members from the University of Dhaka and the North South University. The Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka coordinated the visit to China. This visit to China is conducive to promoting the academic exchanges between China and Bangladesh. It is an important progress in promoting the construction of the Center for China Studies.
2023年7月30日至8月4日,受中国驻孟加拉国大使馆邀请,由9人组成的孟加拉国学者代表团赴华参加由上海国际问题研究院主办的“中国-孟加拉国国际关系研讨会”,并于8月2-4日访问云南。代表团在华期间,与中国学者展开了广泛和深入交流,取得了积极成果。
7月31日,“中国-孟加拉国国际关系研讨会”在上海国际问题研究院举行。来自孟加拉国达卡大学、南北大学、上海国际问题研究院、中国社会科学院、中国现代国际关系研究院、复旦大学、四川大学、云南大学、深圳大学等中孟两国高校和科研院所的20余名专家、学者参加研讨会。中孟两国专家、学者分别围绕“新冠疫情之后全球秩序的演变方向及地区政治、经济形势”“中国的南亚政策”“中孟关系发展现状与前景”等议题展开了深入的交流和研讨。
访沪期间,代表团还赴上海博物馆、上海城市规划展示馆、中共一大纪念馆等具有鲜明特色的上海“地标”参观考察,感受上海今昔变化中折射的中国式现代化路径,切身体悟新发展理念。代表团成员纷纷表示,愿以实际行动深化两国智库间合作交往,为孟中关系发展做出积极贡献。
8月2号至4日,代表团访问云南省。3日上午,云南省外事办公室副主任马作昕在昆明会见了代表团一行。马作昕对代表团一行访问云南表示欢迎。他表示,中孟建交以来,滇孟各领域交流频繁,合作不断深化。孟国内现有的3个孔子学院(课堂)分别由云南大学和红河学院承办,省内多所院校机构设立南亚或孟加拉国方向研究机构,开设孟加拉语专业,招收孟留学生。他还表示,愿意多听取孟加拉国智库学者的意见和观点,支持滇孟专家智库之间的交流合作,服务中孟传统友谊,促进两国民心相通。
代表团团长沙姆萨德·莫图扎教授表示,中孟两国友好源远流长,两国合作硕果累累。此次代表团来华访问,为两国学者进一步增进了解、加强合作拓展了路径。代表团成员发表了对孟中两国友好关系发展、滇孟各领域合作的意见建议,希望未来双方通力合作,推动中孟友好。
会后,代表团还与云南省社科院、云南大学、云南财经大学国际问题方面的专家学者进行深入交流座谈,探讨加强滇孟教育、科研等领域合作的意见。前中国驻孟加拉国大使李极明以老朋友的身份来看望代表团一行,鼓励双方加强交流,共促合作。
当天下午,代表团访问了云南大学国际关系研究院,与该院师生进行了座谈交流。国际关系研究院院长卢光盛教授对代表团来访表示欢迎,他简要介绍了国际关系研究院的基本情况,并提出希望加强与孟高校的学术交流合作,在师生互访、合作研究等方面开展合作。该院的研究生代表向代表团介绍了自己的研究方向,并向孟方学者请教多个问题。
代表团成员表示,很高兴看到中国学生对孟加拉国研究有浓厚的兴趣,欢迎他们到孟加拉国留学和实地调研。代表团团长沙姆萨德·莫图扎教授表示,希望在已有的校际合作机制基础上与国关院推进实质性合作,并利用云南大学在孟孔子学院这一良好平台,进一步推进双方的互动交流。
此次中国驻孟加拉国使馆组织邀请孟学者代表团赴华交流,旨在推动中孟学术界的交流合作,也是正在筹建中的中国研究中心的重要活动之一。中国研究中心落地达卡大学,由上海国际问题研究院和达卡大学作为牵头单位,将联合中孟相关高校、研究机构和智库共同参与建设,目标是在孟加拉国甚至南亚地区建成一个高水平的中国研究机构,推动两国学术领域的交流合作,使研究成果更好地服务孟加拉国社会经济发展,服务于两国人民相互理解和信任。代表团由达卡大学国际事务处主任、中国研究中心孟方协调员沙姆萨德•莫图扎教授担任团长,成员由来自达卡大学和南北大学的共9名学者组成,达卡大学孔子学院积极参与和协调此次访华活动。此次访华活动交流充分,收获颇丰,效果显著,有利于推动中孟双方的学术交流和中国研究中心建设。
