A Confucius Institute delegation visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant孟孔院代表团前往达舍尔甘地污水处理厂参观学习
On April 8, 2024, a delegation from the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka and Shanto Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom, visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant in the capital’s Khilgaon near Aftabnagar. They were briefed on the project by the Chinese construction and management team and visited the plant to better understand how the sewage treatment plant operates and its important role in preventing environmental pollution.
Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant project, which is funded by China and constructed by PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited, has officially entered the operation since April 1, 2022.With a sewage treatment capacity of 500,000 tons per day, the plant is the largest individual sewage treatment plant in South Asia. It is also the first modern large-scale sewage treatment plant in Bangladesh. The plant will be able to treat domestic sewage created by nearly 5 million people in Dhaka every day, greatly reducing city's water pollution and earning wide praise from all parties involved.
2024年4月8日，由达卡大学孔子学院中方院长杨惠和山度•玛丽亚姆-红河孔子课堂中方院长张曦带队组成的孔子学院代表团一行14人前往达卡南郊的达舍尔甘地污水处理厂参观学习，与中国电建成都院达舍尔甘地污水处理厂项目经理任瑞柯及其带领的中方团队举行座谈。
座谈会上，项目管理团队为孔院教师们带来了专业、细致的介绍讲解，双方还就污水处理厂的建设内容、技术标准、运营现状、环境保护等方面进行了深入交流。会后，孔院一行在项目管理团队带领下进行了实地参观，一一走访污水沉淀池、生化反应处理池、污泥焚烧系统，项目经理任瑞柯、副经理刘鑫宇、项目副经理邓明泽、项目安全总监邓强等对孔院教师提出的问题给予了专业回答，让大家对污水处理有了更深入的了解，并学习了很多跨领域知识。
据悉，达舍尔甘地污水处理厂是中国政府优惠贷款支持的孟加拉国第一座现代化大型污水处理厂，也是南亚地区迄今为止最大的单体污水处理厂。自2022年4月投产运行以来，每天可处理首都达卡市区近500万人口的生活污水，大幅度改善达卡水环境污染现状，对改善和保护当地河流与环境发挥着重要作用。
