The 23rd Founding Anniversary of the Department of World Religions & Culture of Dhaka University has been celebrated today 1 December 2022 at R C Majumder Arts Auditorium of the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed the function as the chief guest. The Department of World Religions & Culture and the Centre for Inter-religious and Inter-cultural Dialogue jointly organized this event.
Chairman of the Department of World Religions & Culture Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Bashir addressed it as special guest. Founder Chairman of the Department Prof. Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam delivered the key-note speech. Professor of DU Islamic Studies Department Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rashid, Principal of Ramkrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Srimat Swami Purnatmananda and General Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation Ven. Bhikkhu Sunandapriya Mahathera addressed the function as guest of honour. Prof. Dr. Fazrin Huda delivered welcome address.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the students of World Religions & Culture Department to play pioneering role in making a progressive society with non-communal and humanitarian values. Students have to work together to establish peace and harmony in the society, he added. The VC stressed the need for paying respect to every religion through study of religious books.
