Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal (B.Sc. Honors batch 18) joined as a lecturer of the Department of Geology in 2000 and was appointed as a Professor in 2010 in the same department. Professor Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal was the founder chairman of the Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience (DSCR), established in 2012 and served as Chairman there till 2017. At the same time, he also served as the elected Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences since 2012. He is now contributing as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka and also serves as a syndicate and senate member of the University of Dhaka.
Professor Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal was elected three times as general secretary and four times president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association. He also was the Secretary-General of the Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation and has been the President for three consecutive terms.
