The Department decided to introduce the undergraduate program in Development Studies from the academic session 2008-2009 to assist the country in its pursuit of development by producing high-quality professionals and researchers so that they can plan, design, and implement development interventions in an effective and efficient way. The program aims to provide high-quality education and training to the students from a multi-disciplinary perspective while helping them to have a holistic understanding and insights about development.
The BSS (Honors) Program in Development Studies shall be of four years duration and divided into 8 (eight) semesters. Each semester shall be 19 weeks, of which 15 weeks will be for class teaching, 1-week break for examination preparation, and 3 weeks for holding the midterm and semester final examination. The program shall include the teaching of 35-course units for a total of 3500 marks, which will be translated into 140 credit hours (4 credit hours assigned to each course unit). The total credit hours shall be evaluated based on 3500 total marks, of which 3300 marks shall be for 33 taught course units, 100 marks for a research paper, and 100 marks for written and oral comprehensive examinations in the 8th (eighth) semester. For a 4-credit course unit, there shall be (i) two lecture classes of 90 minutes each, and (ii) a 60-minute discussion class/tutorial class/lab work/group presentation/class test every week.
Students shall be admitted in the BSS (Honors) Degree Program in different departments including Development Studies under the Faculty of Social Sciences as per the University Rules.

3. Semester Activities
- Total number of weeks: 19 (Nineteen) of which,
- 15 week will be for class teaching,
- 1 week break for preparation, and
- 3 week for holding the semester final examination.
4. Duration of Class/ tutorial/ lab work:
- For a 4-credit course unit, there shall be two lecture classes of 90 minutes each,
- one 60 minutes discussion class/ tutorial class/ lab work / group presentation/ class test every week.
5. Number of Courses: 35 course units (33 taught courses, one rsearch work and one comprehensive course)
6. Total Marks: 3500 (100 marks per course unit)
7. Total Credit: 140 credit hours.
8. Credit Per Course: 4 credit hours
9. Comprehensive exam has two parts: written and oral . Each unit shall be of 50 marks.
