Part time Research Assistant for 3 months at CARASS

Project Name: International Conference on Language Movement and the Emergence of the Bangla Speaking State in the World.

About the Project:

The Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS), University of Dhaka, is going to organize an International Conference titled Language Movement and the Emergence of a Bangla Speaking State in the World. The conference will explore the legacy of the Language Movement and its impact on Bangali nationalism, pluralism in the nation-state and global identity formation as well as our culture, literature, economics, politics, science, technology and society. It will also examine the role of the Language Movement in the development of Bangladesh as a nation-state and its place in the world.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part time Research Assistant to oversee the development, production, and distribution of various publications. This role requires a strong command of Bangla and English, a keen eye for accuracy, and a solid understanding of the printing process.

Deliverables:

• By April 25, 2024, assist to prepare and publish the conference proceedings, which will include abstracts of the papers.

•           By June 30, 2024, assist to have the manuscript ready for the entire paper.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the entire publication lifecycle, from concept development and editing to final production and distribution.
• Collaborate with writers, editors, and designers to ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of content across all publications.
• Proofread and edit content for grammar, spelling, and clarity in both Bangla and English.
• Oversee printing processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget constraints.
• Develop and maintain style guides and publication templates.
• Manage the online availability of publications (if applicable).
• Track and analyze publication usage data to inform future content creation.

Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bangla and English.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Proven experience in project management.
• Knowledge of the printing process, including pre-press, press, and post-press activities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems).
• Master holders/candidates are preferable.

Job will start from April 16, 2024.
