The Marketing Department of Dhaka University (DU) is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a weeklong series of events organized by the department’s Alumni Association. This announcement was made during a press conference on Thursday, December 6, by the department chair, Professor Dr. A. B. M. Shahidul Islam, who is also the convener of the Marketing Alumni Association.
Established on July 1, 1974, the Marketing Department will mark its golden jubilee from December 7 to 13 on the university campus. The celebrations will bring together current and former students, along with faculty members, to commemorate achievements and foster reconnections.
Event Highlights: The weeklong festivities will commence on December 7 with a grand rally at 8:00 AM, followed by the inaugural ceremony at 9:00 AM. The event’s chief guest will be Economic Adviser Md. Salehuddin Ahmed, and the special guest will be Adviser on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradip Chakma. A T20 cricket match is scheduled for the afternoon.

December 8: International Relations Webinar at 8:30 AM and Case Competition in the afternoon.
December 9: Academic Symposium at 9:30 AM.
December 10: Games in the morning and a Debate Competition in the afternoon.
December 11-12: Career Talks, starting at 2:30 PM on December 11, and Job Fairs on both days from 10:00 AM.
December 12: A Literary and Poetry Discussion at 2:30 PM.
December 13: The grand reunion, featuring performances by renowned artists James and Nancy.
Lifetime Achievement Awards
In recognition of the department’s milestone, Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to distinguished individuals, including poet Helal Hafiz and former department chair Professor Sirajul Islam.
Dr. Md. Neyamul Islam, member secretary of the Marketing Alumni Association, invited all current and former students to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations, making it a memorable occasion for the Marketing Department.
