The 12th International Conference on Physics in Medicine (ICPM-2025) was held on 16–17 October 2025 at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, and the Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka. The conference was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Medical Physics Association (BMPA) and the Department of Biomedical Physics & Technology (BMPT), University of Dhaka. The theme of the conference was “Medical Physics in Cancer Management.” The event brought together leading researchers, academics, and professionals in the field of medical physics to share their insights and recent advances. As the chief guest, Professor Dr. M. Aminul Islam, former Special Assistant at the Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of medical physics in cancer management and the practical application of science. As a special guest, Professor M. A. Hai, President of the Oncology Club Bangladesh, discussed the history of radiotherapy in Bangladesh and the shortage of skilled medical physicists in cancer treatment. Another distinguished guest, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean Faculty of Science, University of Dhaka, stated that cancer is a deadly disease and that for its safe treatment, collaboration among hospitals and professionals is essential. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, President of the Association, who highlighted the need to recruit medical physicists to improve the quality of radiotherapy services in the country. In his welcome address, Dr. Md. Nahid Hossain, General Secretary of the Association, emphasized the importance of enhancing medical physics education and developing skilled medical physicists in Bangladesh. Dr. Md. Shakilur Rahman, Vice President of the Association, noted the insufficiency of radiotherapy facilities in the country and stressed the need to establish proton therapy centers. Joining online as a plenary speaker, Professor Dr. Salahuddin Ahmed, Professor Emeritus at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, USA, highlighted global advancements in radiotherapy. Honorary Professor of the Department of Biomedical Physics and Technology, Khondkar Siddique-e Rabbani highlighted his efforts toward the development of healthcare technology aimed at delivering its benefits to the underprivileged. Other plenary speakers included Emeritus Professor Dr. Guinyun Kim from South Korea, Professor Dr. A. K. M. Fazlul Bari, Dr. Suresh Chaudhari from India, and Md. Zubayer Hasan Tarif from Malaysia.
